Terms of Service
Last updated: March 17, 2026
These terms govern your use of Barrd ("the Service"), operated by Barrd ("we", "us"). By using Barrd, you agree to these terms.
1. The service
Barrd provides persistent memory and project management for AI-assisted development workflows. The service stores structured metadata — tasks, plans, decisions, session states, and documents — and makes them accessible to AI assistants via the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and a REST API.
2. Accounts
You must create an account to use Barrd. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must provide accurate information when creating your account. One person or legal entity may not maintain more than one free account.
3. Your data
You retain ownership of all data you create in Barrd. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your content. You grant us a limited license to store, process, and transmit your data solely to provide the service.
You are responsible for the content you store in Barrd. You must not use the service to store illegal content or content that violates third-party rights.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service or other users' data
- Use the service for any illegal purpose
- Interfere with or disrupt the service's infrastructure
- Reverse engineer the service
- Resell access to the service without written permission
- Exceed reasonable usage limits or abuse API rate limits
- Use automated means to create accounts
5. Paid plans
Paid subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly basis through Paddle, our Merchant of Record. Paddle handles all payment processing, tax calculations, and invoicing.
Prices are listed on our pricing page and may change with 30 days' notice. Price changes do not affect your current billing period.
Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You retain access to paid features until then.
Refunds
Refund requests are handled on a case-by-case basis. If you are unsatisfied with the service, contact us at hello@barrd.com within 14 days of your payment and we will issue a full refund for that billing period.
Refunds beyond the 14-day window are at our discretion and considered for circumstances such as extended service outages, billing errors, or other exceptional situations.
All refunds are processed through Paddle, our Merchant of Record. Refunds typically appear on your statement within 5–10 business days, depending on your payment provider.
No refunds are issued for partial billing periods when you cancel mid-cycle — you retain access until the end of your current period.
Downgrades
If you downgrade to a lower tier, your existing data is preserved but you may not be able to create new resources beyond your new tier's limits. No data is deleted on downgrade.
Failed payments
If a payment fails, we provide a 7-day grace period with full access. If payment is not resolved within the grace period, your account is downgraded to the Free tier. Your data is preserved.
6. Free tier
The free tier is provided as-is with the limits described on our pricing page. We reserve the right to modify free tier limits with 30 days' notice.
7. Service availability
We aim to provide high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may perform maintenance with reasonable notice. We are not liable for downtime caused by factors outside our control.
8. Data portability
You can export your data at any time via the REST API. If you delete your account, we will provide a data export upon request before deletion.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. We will provide notice and an opportunity to export your data unless the violation requires immediate action (e.g., security threat, illegal activity).
You may delete your account at any time through the service settings. Account deletion is permanent and takes effect within 30 days.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Barrd is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.
11. Disclaimer
The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or a notice on the service at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Ireland.
